As a member of the Internet Services department, I was responsible for
supporting over 450 users nationally to allow them to fulfill Internet
related products and advertising. I helped to develop and maintain web
based applications that allowed a single point of access for users then
allowed them to perform their functions based on their role.

Developed an auction site from the ground up. Several of the features that
the client wanted were not available in any other auction software package.
Here are just a few of the items from the site requirements:
- Online editor that allows for editing text and images on all pages.
- Develop a function for the auction items that will not allow an item to
end if there has been a bid in the last ten minutes.
- Create an importer that will accept Excel spreadsheets or text documents.
- Bulk image uploader
- User bidding that will allow a customer service rep to place a bid for
the customer
- Bidding engine that will allow for maximum bids of any amount but will
increase the minimum bid by 10% and will allow for the bidder to place reserve
bids and purchase the item immediately for a set amount.
- Set items up as collections and allow more than one collection to be auctioned
at a time
- User management system that will allow the original item owners to view
which items are being bid on, the amount of profit they have made, how much
they owe Sportsworld, and any items they are bidding on themselves.
- Hot Items section on the home page that will show items that are currently
in a bidding war to entice others to join in the bidding. Also allow for items
to be set up as specials and they will show up on the homepage at all times.
- Blogging system that will allow the owner to make "posts" about
a collection or item but will not take comments from visitors.
- Mass mailing system that will notify users when they have been outbid,
when the auction is ending, when they have won and how much they owe based
on pickup or shipping options.
- Item packing slips that will allow for input for the shipping and handling
amount based on the winner's preferences.

Site owner was experiencing mass amounts of Pay Per Click (PPC) fraudulent
clicks which were costing the customer hundreds of dollars each week. The customer
wanted a way to minimize the amount of returning fraud.
- Track the IP address and referring URL of visitors.
- Log each visit and if the visitor came from a "PPC" ad site such
as superpages.com more than 3 times in less than 10 minutes then automatically
redirect the visitor to a page warning of potential legal action if the clicks
continued.
- Ignore multiple clicks from search engines.
- Reset the IP addresses after 24 hours.
- Reports to show how many clicks were coming from each URL based on daily,
weekly or monthly choice to help reconcile billing with PPC ads.
The customer experienced a decrease of PPC expense by almost $400 a week after
implementing this system.
Built a widget to go on the site that allows for different "Ads"
to be shown based on the referring URL and to report clicks from PPC Ads to
help with billing reconciliation's.
- Ad generator that will allow the user to create a text based ad, uses the
site's CSS file for display, and will provide a link to use in PPC Ads to
track clicks.
- Create mailing system that will allow visitors to express their interest
in the products offered.
- If the visitor comes from a non-PPC ad or search engine, show a random
ad instead of a specific ad.
- Allow ads to be set up with start and stop dates and active/deactive status
Build large file uploader that will allow for files up to 50MB to be uploaded

The customer wanted to start selling gift certificates online but did not want
to pay for a payment gateway and his onsite processor did not handle online
transactions.

- Secure processing area that decrypts data for single use then deletes all
financial data from database.

Developed an online information resource and custom catalog application

using only HTML and an offsite order processing system. Designed graphics from
scratch for site, set up easy to use navigation and ordering to promote more
online orders. Animate a logo using Flash MX and offering a way to bypass it
for dial up users.
- Coded over 1400 pages solely in HTML to offer 1200 products due to
restrictions on host server.
